Die meisten Plastikverpackungen fallen bei Lebensmitteln an.
Sei es der Salatkopf, das Kilo Möhren oder Champignons – von geschälten Orangen in Plastikdosen wollen wir gar nicht anfangen! -, alles wird in Plastik eingeschweißt. Wie soll man dem entkommen? Eine Möglichkeit wäre, auf dem Wochenmarkt einzukaufen.
Auf dem Wochenmarkt einkaufen… Bin ich denn meine Ur-Großmutter, oder was?
Wenn du unnötigen Müll vermeiden willst – ja!
Auf dem Wochenmarkt bekommst du unverpackte Lebensmittel zum günstigen Preis – wobei günstig nicht mit billig zu verwechseln ist! Gute, regionale und saisonale Lebensmittel haben ihren Preis, wenn alle in der Lieferkette davon gut leben können sollen! Aber das ist wiederum ein ganz eigenes Thema.
Der Wochenmarkt bringt viele Vorteile mit sich, die manchmal ein bisschen in Vergessenheit geraten. Da ich sie zweimal in der Woche genießen kann, fasse ich sie hier einmal zusammen:
Gemütlich vormittags ein paar Büddel und Dosen zusammensammeln und dann flix auf den Markt. Hier bekomme ich frisches Gemüse (ob bio,regional, saisonal oder auch alles in einem) und wenn ich nicht weiß, was ich kochen soll, dann haben meine Marktfrauen immer eine leckere Idee, was sich mit dem vorhandenen Gemüse kreieren lässt.
“Das Grün vom Kohlrabi brauchst du nicht? Wunderbar, dann kriegen das die hofeigenen Hühner! Apropos, falls du Eierkartons rumliegen hast, die kannst du mitbringen und dir auffüllen lassen oder einfach für den nächsten Kunden da lassen.
Kleiner Schnupfen? Ingwer aufschneiden, heißes Wasser drüber und trinken! Hat schon bei meiner Mutter geholfen.
Beim Rosenkohl schneideste unten am Besten ein Kreuz rein, dann gart der gleichmäßig durch.”
Ich muss mir keine Gedanken mehr machen, wie ich was zubereite. Kurz ein fragendes Gesicht aufgesetzt und ich weiß über alles Bescheid.
Dann schnell etwas Aufschnitt beim Landfleischer besorgen. Der sieht mich und ruft schon “Tupper-Party!”, weil klar ist, ich bekomme meine Ware in meine mitgebrachten Dosen gepackt. Am Anfang war er erstmal irritiert, aber nach kurzer Erklärung meinte er, das findet er gut, das sollten mehr so machen. Und hier geht das eben auch ohne große Diskussion.
Bei meiner Käsefrau bekomme ich nicht nur Käse, sondern auch Frischkäse in meine Tupperware. Feta gibt es bei ihr leider nicht, weil das auf den meisten anderen Märkten ein türkischer Delikatessen-Stand anbietet, der sich leider nicht auf meinen Marktplatz verirrt. Aber es gibt hier regionale Milch und Joghurt im Pfandglas und ebenso regionalen Honig. Da ist zwar kein Pfand drauf, aber wenn ich ihr die leeren Gläser bringe, dann bekommt der Imker sie zur Wiederverwendung zurück.
Beim Bäcker halte ich nur noch meinen baumwollenen Brotbüddel hin und gebe meine Bestellung auf. Manchmal lasse ich auch einfach einen Büddel da und bestelle schon mein Brot für den nächsten Markttag. Man kennt sich.
Den ganzen billigen Ramsch, der hier auch verkauft wird, lasse ich links liegen und freue mich an frischen Lebensmitteln ohne Plastikgedöns! Noch ein paar nette Nachbarn getroffen und den neuesten Tratsch aus dem Viertel ausgetauscht. Old School Networking quasi.
Eine andere Möglichkeit, Gemüse und andere Lebensmittel verpackungsfrei, saisonal, regional zu beziehen ist die Solidarische Landwirtschaft. Was das überhaupt ist, könnt ihr zum Beispiel hier nachlesen. Und ob es das auch in eurer Nähe gibt, findet ihr hier raus.
Außerdem kann natürlich auch eine Food Koop dabei helfen, Verpackung einzusparen, wenn in großen Gebinden eingekauft wird. Wie eine Food Koop funktionieren kann, habe ich euch in diesem Artikel einmal beschrieben.
